Best of Galway

Galway has many great activities whether you are looking for culture, adventure or nature!
We have handpicked some of the best experiences run by local small companies who are passionate about their craft.

Located in a thatched cottage in the Claddagh area of Galway city this is the perfect setting for your Irish Dance Experience!
During the hour long class you will learn a few basic steps and moves from Sean-Nós and Irish Step Dancing and a bit of background history of traditional Irish dancing and music.
You will be taught the basic steps without music first, then when you've got the hang of the steps they add the music. You have the option of recording the steps you learned during the class as well as the dancing for your own use or to share on social media. To finish off the teacher gives a short dance performance for you.
Enjoy half day guided kayak tour from Menlo Pier (3 hours).
The Kayak tours are a mix of open water paddling, island hopping, navigating rocky and reedy channels, observing nature and enjoying stunning vistas. Trips are tailored to the abilities of paddlers.
The Corrib Princess sails from the heart of Galway city taking passengers along the River Corrib and onto Lough Corrib where you will get the best vista of the beautiful scenery and wildlife as you glide along past castles and various sites of historical and cultural interest.
There is a fully stocked bar on board and live commentary from the captain during the sailing.
The Claddagh is one of the oldest recorded fishing villages in Ireland (dating back to the 7th century) and until the 1930's was a thriving centre for many different trades including boat-building, crafted tables and household items and the traditional Irish Hooker Boat - a famous symbol of Galway.
Katie's is a restored thatched cottage that depicts traditional life in one of Ireland's oldest fishing villages. Enjoy tea, scones and homemade Irish Guinness brack beside the authentic turf fire before browsing some of Ireland's best contemporary and vintage interior and home accessories and unique Irish gifts.
Katie's is a hub of designers, crafters and storytellers who are dedicated to sharing with you some of Galway's most culturally significant heritage.
Brigit's Garden is a Garden & Celtic Heritage Centre located 20 km from Galway city on the doorstep of Connemara. It comprises of 4 main gardens that represent Celtic Fire Festival and is surrounded by meadows sown with native wildflowers, a lake, a fairy fort and native woodland paths.
The Garden Café uses the best local produce including salads and herbs from the garden which you can enjoy on the patio or in the bright new cafe overlooking the beautiful surroundings. The gift shop sells carefully chosen pieces, each item has been lovingly selected to reflect the beauty of the garden and many items have made locally.
Both a museum and a jewellery shop, this establishment is dedicated to the history of this Galway-made ring. Named after an old fishing area in the county, the rings were worn to indicate marriage but now they are just a token of friendship and are worn by Irish and Irish descendants the world over.
